Health & Safety Policy Statement

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974

The Board of Directors believe that the Health, Safety and Welfare (Includingprevention of injury and ill health) of its employees and others affected by its operations should have equal importance to quality, cost, production and morale.
In accepting this responsibility the Board of Directors aim, so far as is reasonably practicable, to provide a working environment that is safe and without risk to health by paying particular attention to:-

  1. The provision and maintenance of plant, equipment and systems of work that are safe and without risk to any person.
  2. Safe arrangements for the handling, storage and transportation of articles and substances.
  3. Sufficient information, instruction, training and supervision to enable all employees to avoid hazards and contribute positively to their Health and Safety at work. Consulting with employees on matters affecting their health and safety.
  4. Safe access to and egress from places of work.
  5. The provision and maintenance of a working environment that is, so far as is reasonably practicable, adequate with regard facilities and arrangements for employee’s welfare at work.

The Board of Directors also believe that it is the responsibility of all employees to perform their assigned duties safely by following established safe working procedures, the correct use of personnel protective equipment (P.P.E.) or control measures and by reporting or, where able to do so safely, correcting unsafe acts or conditions. All personnel have a responsibility for ensuring that their activities do not result in unnecessary risk or harm to themselves or other people.

Arrangements and Responsibilities for Health and Safety are laid out in the Company Quality Management System Document.

The Company is committed to legal compliance including, Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, The Environmental Protection Act 1990, and all supporting regulations, and uses the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS) 18001:2007 as a standard against which the Company management systems, including ISO 9001:2000 (Quality), can be assessed and certified.

The Company is committed to continual improvement, with this policy statement and the Health and Safety System being subject to regular review by Management, and amended as deemed necessary. Key drivers for this improvement are developed in the form of specific health and safety objectives, which are regularly reviewed with appropriate consultation throughout the company.

In order to ensure the implementation of this policy the Board of Directors have appointed Mr.S Enderby as the Management Appointee responsible for Health and Safety.

This policy can only be successful with the active co-operation of all management, employees, contractors and visitors, who have a duty to offer all necessary assistance to ensure the Health and Safety of themselves and others.
