Requirements

• 5-10 years experience of bridge inspection or maintenance (highways or rail)
• (we may consider candidates with other structural inspection experience if it is relevant)
• Sound technical understanding of construction materials and forms
• Good basic office IT skills wp/spreadsheets/d/bases/CAD/web research/email/file management)
• Well organised, self motivated and able to work with and motivate others
• Confident on the phone and in meetings (internal and client)
• Interested in the fundamentals of engineering able to communicate that to others
• Proven high quality report writing skills
• Knowledge/experience of material testing of common construction materials
• A clean full driving licence and happy to drive vans and other similar vehicles

Qualifications

• HND/Degree in relevant construction discipline
• NVQ in relevant construction discipline
• EngTech, IEng or CEng

Or any combination of the above

Current NDT qualifications such as MPI or paint testing would also be considered advantageous.

• Inspection of a variety of structures from historic monuments and nationally strategically important structures to small apparently insignificant ones.
• Leading inspection teams and monitoring the performance of others
• Preparation of reports/drawings/schedules of defects, etc.
• Planning programmes of inspections and complex on-off projects
• Implication of strict quality and health & safety systems.

Other information

• The successful candidate would ideally reside within a 15 mile radius of our Crewe base.
• Work entails work away from the office, this can include weekends and also sequences of weeks (allowances, travel and accommodation are included), Our work takes place throughout the uk and we have been involved in overseas work in the past.
• Candidate is required to have a reasonable level of fitness as the work can involve walking over rough terrain, up and down steps and steep banks, the use of ladders and scaffold and long hours in potentially adverse weather conditions.
• Successful candidates will be subject to drug and alcohol screening prior to employment and during employment. This is strictly enforced by ourselves and out clients.

Opportunities may be available to become involved in confined space/rope access working as well as training in the use of MEWPs involvement in scour inspection and assessment, material testing.

Competitive salary package in range £23-40k dependant upon qualifications and experience.
